Web Site Design...
I create web sites and web-based software for a living. If you have a project that you would like to discuss, please contact me.
Rather than rant about how you need a website for your business, I think it's more important to say how I approach web design. This may or may not be a different approach from others...

Browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari... the list goes on ...
In the past, browsers all did it differently. They all interpreted the language (HTML) we use to write web sites in myriad different ways that meant we often wrote different versions of one site for different browsers.Enter the W3C - an organisation that champions the adoption of (and writes) web standards.
I adhere as strictly as possible to the web standards created by the W3C which in short means I spend a lot less time chasing down bugs and trying to make my sites look OK on all computers all over the world. In turn, this means that my clients spend less money.

I write all of my sites using a text editor, a simple text-editor.
You may find this slightly odd considering the wealth of advanced and wonderous software available on the market for authoring websites, but I believe this gives me absolute control over what I do. I defy any piece of software to be able to accumulate as much knowledge or be able to adapt and refine as quickly as me. There, I said it.

I haven't forgotten that some people still use dialup!
