FTP Support
WSFTPLE For Windows
Download and install the software, you can find it here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/wsftple.html and activate
the program by double clicking its icon on your desktop or by finding the program in your Stat Menu.
Before you continue, make sure you are connected to the Internet.
The session properties window automatically appears when you start up the program. Click the button labelled "New" on the "General" settings tab and type in a name for the profile that will help you remember which server the settings are for. Something like "My Web Server" will do.
Next, type in the server address. For george Steel accounts, this will be your domain name without the www prefix;
For other systems this may be an IP address i.e. 123.123.123.123
or perhaps ftp.your-domain-name.com. Your ISP should have provided you with this information when you
ordered the account.
"Host Type" should be set to "Automatic Detect". Type in the username and password provided remembering that both of these are normally case sensitive, and tick the box labelled "Save Pwd" to save your password with this proile.

Switch to the "Advanced" tab. You'll see that the first three text boxes already have values in them. Don't change these, just tick the box that's labelled "Passive transfers" and click the OK button to apply your changes and close the session properties window. WSFTP LE will now automatically connect to your FTP server. If WSFTP LE can't connect, it will tell you.

Now you're connected, you'll see that in the left pane are your local files, or the files on your hardrive. Navigate to your website files by double clicking on the folders in the left hand pane.
On the George Steel servers, your website files need to be uploaded to the htdocs folder. When you
connect, you will automatically be shown the contents of your home folder. Within your home folder, locate the
htdocs folder and double click it so that you can see the contents within.

Hopefully, you are now looking at your local website files on the left and the contents of your htdocs
folder on the right (presumably empty). Make sure that the check box labelled "Auto" is checked
(found just below the file browser panes) and either select all of your local website files on the left and
drag them into the right hand "Remote Files" pane or click the right arrow (
—> ).
Your files are now being transfered to your FTP server. When the transfer is complete, you can exit WSFTP LE and check your website in your favourite web browser such as Internet Explorer by typing in the address of your website.
